Individual Therapy

Do you feel alone and not sure who to reach out to?

Do past experiences get in the way of finding personal happiness?

Offering you a “secure” place to reach out for help is the first step.  I work with individuals to reduce stress, face life challenges, and decrease symptoms of mental health conditions. The therapy models I am drawn to are grounded in Systems and Attachment theories as well as being trauma informed.  This means I am more likely to have you consider your relationships, personal connections and their influence on you than I am to focus on finding internal weaknesses. As I gain understanding of you as an individual, I modify the way to approach your unique needs.  I may utilize a variety of therapy models in your care, some of which are Narrative Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)/Mindfulness, or Solution Focused Therapy.

Child, Adolescent Therapy

Are you concerned about your child/adolescent’s worry, behavior or difficult feelings?

When I work with Children or Adolescents, I use experiential types of therapy (Play therapy, Sandtray) which allows the child/adolescent to experience or demonstrate their feelings rather than only talk their way through difficult problems. This is often more effective from a developmental perspective for children and some adolescents. I also utilize my additional training in child focused EMDR and CBT.

Couples Therapy

Do you feel stuck in negative patterns in your relationship?

Opening up to others about partner relationship struggles is personal, and can be painful.  I offer a space to support both partners to share their hurt so they can move closer towards each other with more understanding and less conflict.

My work with couples is influenced by Attachment Theory which explains “the nature of emotional attachment between humans”.  How we have experienced our primary attachment relationships as children impacts our current and future attachment relationships. This is the foundation of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a therapy model which is well researched and highlights that we all need emotional connection to thrive. I am fully certified in EFT.

Family Therapy

Has your family recently experienced a difficult change?

Is there conflict between family members that are affecting others in the family?

When one family member is struggling, it impacts the whole family. I value the opportunity to bring family members together to increase their understanding and empathy for each other, to develop more awareness of their family patterns, and to reduce conflict. Sessions may include all family members, the parent and child, or combinations of family members.  Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is utilized in my family work.
